The start of term saw the blast off of our new curriculum. Hivedoors and flightpaths combine the teaching and learning of non core subjects. Each term the whole school (excluding post 16) enter the same 'hivedoor' (the theme for that term). Within each hivedoor there are many different 'flightpaths' and these will all be very different for each year class. As pupils progress through Brooklands they will experience a wide range of flightpaths and learning opportunities; all of which compliment their ECHP targets and Core Learning of Communication, PSCHE, English, Maths, PE and Computing.
This half term each class is exploring the hivedoor under the heading of ‘Our World and Beyond’. The blast off is our opportunity to ‘unlock the learning’ for our pupils. This is launched in a variety of ways, providing our pupils with an interesting, and sometimes unexpected, opening to their pathway and a view into others. This blast off we shared in each other’s learning by participating in a variety of motivational, practical and sensory activities! Look what fun we had!
